How To Set Up Email Forwarding
Email Forwarding For
Staff
The email auto-forward allows any new email message sending
to your ECom&IComp mailbox to be forwarded to any email address
automatically. The following are the
steps on how to use this feature.
Enable Email Forwarding
- Visit the Webmail login page at
https://webmail.ecom-icom.hku.hk/
- Click "Email Forwarding Settings".

- Type in your username and password.

- You can see the Email Forwarding Settings page.

- Select 'Enable Email Auto Forwarding' and input the destination
forwarding email address.
Note: It is your responsibility to ensure that the
forwarding email address is correct. If the forwarding email address is
invalid or the server of the forwarding email address has any problem, you
may lose your email messages.
- Tick the square box if you would like to leave a copy of any forwarded
message in the ECom&IComp mailbox.
Note: Please note that copies of the message take
storage space. If the ECom&IComp mailbox is full, you cannot receive any new
message. Therefore, you have to clean up the mailbox regularly if you use
this option.
- Click 'Confirm'
- The system will tell you when the settings will be effective. Normally,
the system updates the record every hour at 00:00, 01:00, 02:00, etc.
* Due to the limitation of the email server, the email
forwarding function only accepts destination forwarding email
addresses that are not in the domain ecom-icom.hku.hk. Also, no two
users can forward their email to the same email address.
Disable Email Forwarding
- Visit the Webmail login page at
https://webmail.ecom-icom.hku.hk/
- Click "Email Forwarding Settings".
- Type in your username and password.
- You can see the Email Forwarding Settings page.

- Select 'Disable Email Auto Forwarding'. You do not need to remove
the forwarding email address even if you want to disable email forwarding
feature.
- Click 'Confirm'
- The system will tell you when the settings will be effective. Normally,
the system updates the record every hour at 00:00, 01:00, 02:00, etc.
Email
Forwarding For MSc(ECom&IComp) Alumni Members
MEICOM Alumni Association members, who were admitted into the
ECOM-ICOM programme before 2014, can retain their
@ecom-icom.hku.hk email address after graduation. However, there
is no mailbox storage and you have to provide your personal
email address for forwarding purpose without any send function.
For those alumni members who do not activate the email
forwarding function, their "@ecom-icom.hku.hk" email addresses
are no longer valid. Please note that this service is not
permanent. It is subject to the software license agreement and the
policy is reviewed by the University from time to time. The following are the
steps on how to use this feature.
Activate Email Address and Enable Email Forwarding
- Visit the Webmail login page at
https://webmail.ecom-icom.hku.hk/
- Click "Email Forwarding Settings".

- Type in your username and password.
- You can see the Email Forwarding Settings page.

- Select 'Activate this email address and Enable email forwarding'
and input the destination forwarding email address.

Deactivate Email Address and Enable Email Forwarding

https://webmail.ecom-icom.hku.hk/
- Click "Email Forwarding Settings".
- Type in your username and password.
- You can see the Email Forwarding Settings page.

- Select ''De-activate this email address'.
- Click 'Confirm'
- The system will tell you when the settings will be effective. Normally,
the system updates the record every hour at 00:00, 01:00, 02:00, etc.
Note: After the email address has been de-activated,
any email messages sending to that email address will be bounced back to the
senders. You can re-activate the email address again in the future using the
same form.
